MTI Softrider Adjustable Pedestal



    

The Softrider is the ultimate in boating pedestals, designed to give you the softest ride possible.  With the assistance of a gas powered cylinder incorporated inside the pedestal, it helps to absorb the harshness of offshore boating.  It incorporates a unique feature of height adjustment: by lifting the Softrider handle up, you can raise and lower the pedestal height four inches or 100 mm to select the height that is just right for you; when you release the lever, the pedestal is locked in that position.  All the while still maintaining the Softrider feature.  The handle can be set on either the left or the right side of the pedestal.

Powerslider

The Powerslider is unique.  It is fitted to the Swivel Lock flange and allows you to move your chair forward and aft 100 mm (4 inches).  This is unique in that all you have to do is push the powerslider lever back and the chair automatically moves forward and, with a little assistance, will slide back.  As soon as you release the lever, the slider will lock in that position. The Powerslider can be mounted on either an aluminium or composite swivel flange.

Manualslider

The Manualslider has the same featuers as the Powerslider.  Instead of the gas powered cylinder to adjust the forward and aft movement, it is adjusted manually.  The position is located by activating the spring loaded plunger.  It can only be mounted on a composite swivel flange.

Swivel Lock Flanges

The Swivel Lock flange is designed to fit our range of pedestals.  It swivels 360° and is lockable in any position.  It is available in either aluminium or composite.  The aluminium swivel comes complete with nylon bushes for non-metal friction and the swivel lock handles can be fitted for left- or right-handed operation.  The composite swivel has excellent resistance to corrosion and has greater load bearing and tensile strength than the aluminium flange.

Footrest

The Footrest is cast in aluminium and has the unique feature of being spring-loaded.  It can be clamped to the Softrider, fixed pedestal or any 75 mm tube.  When the footrest is not in use, it folds back against the pedestal, giving the maximum amount of space between the pedestal and the helm station.  The pedestal height must be 600 mm or higher to utilise the full functions of the footrest.

Fixed Pedestal



                   
The pedestal is made from marine grade aluminium extrusion, which gives excellent non-corrosive protection.  The fixed pedestal is designed for maximum stability with a specially designed base casting, into which the aluminium tube is pressed.   A bond is then formed between the aluminium tube and the base casting.

The pedestal can be fitted with the following accessories:

Low Level Systems

Low Level Sliders are designed to fit onto existing fibreglass or aluminium plinths.  They also have the option of being fitted with a Low Level Swivel.  The swivel is not lockable, but firm to turn.  The slider options are:  Low Level Powerslider or Low Level Manualslider.  Height of sliders:  50mm; add 20mm for the swivel.

Low Profile Pedestals

Low Profile Pedestals are designed to fit onto existing fibreglass or aluminium plinths.   The pedestal can be fitted with your choice of:

Overall height is from 145 mm to 165 mm, depending on which swivel lock flange is used - composite or aluminium.

Fixed and Adjustable Tables

         

  • The floor mounted table pedestal adjusts from 400mm to 690mm.  It is gas spring assisted to raise the table as required.
  • An underfloor table pedestal adjusts from 400mm to 700mm, but needs 140mm clearance under the floor.  It is also gas spring assisted to raise the table as required.

There is a range of fixed pedestals available, custom made to suit your height requirements.
